IOD Sunflowers Mould for Furniture Upcycling and Decorative Crafts
Bring cheerful floral character to your creative projects with the Iron Orchid Designs Sunflowers Mould. Create sunflower embellishments in air-dry clay or casting resin for upcycled furniture, handmade home décor and mixed-media artwork.
Imagine a keepsake box finished with a sunflower centrepiece, a country-style plaque decorated with raised blooms or a drawer front given a nature-inspired accent. Paint your castings in sunny colours for a bold floral finish, or match them to the surface for subtle texture and detail.
Sunflower craft and upcycling ideas
- Create floral furniture appliqués for drawer fronts, cupboard doors and decorative panels.
- Embellish keepsake boxes, picture frames and handmade home accessories.
- Add raised sunflower details to country-style signs, decorative plaques and mixed-media artwork.
- Explore soap-making, jewellery and cake-decorating projects using separately dedicated moulds.
Using air-dry clay
Air-dry clay can shrink, warp and crack as it dries, adding an aged, distressed character to your project. Lightly dust the mould with cornflour to aid release. Remove your casting while it is still moist and adhere it in place, using low-tack tape to help support it on vertical surfaces.
Using casting resin
Casting resin produces consistent mouldings without the shrinking, warping or cracking associated with air-dry clay. To fit a casting to a curved surface, remove it from the mould before it has completely hardened so it can be shaped into position. Follow your chosen resin manufacturer's mixing, handling and curing instructions.
