The Emily Claire Transfer set from Iron Orchid Designs comes from one of IOD's favourite archive finds to date. Taken from an 1868 family album belonging to Miss Emily Clare Harvey, the artwork began as her pencil and watercolour illustrations lovingly added around her family’s portraits. The Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York preserved this album which caused Sam (IOD's Senior Designer) and Sally to fall in love with its whimsical, beautifully hand-painted details. The set includes charming elements like kittens, hummingbirds, butterflies, banners, and even a proud little rooster; each image is quirky, delicate, and full of character.

Prep is key - keep your Iron Orchid Designs decor Transfer with its backing sheet until you're ready to use. Keep free of dust and debris which will interfere with adhesion. Don't allow the IOD Decor Transfer to touch anything before application or allow the sticky side touch itself. Don't store in humid conditions or extreme temperatures.

Application - start with a clean matte surface. If painted, make sure the paint has fully cured before you start. Seal your project with a water based sealer before application. Remove the IOD Decor Transfer from its backing and place in position - you can use pieces of low tack tape to hold it in place. Using the plastic tool provided rub the image to stick it to the surface. If any parts haven't stuck simply place the transfer back into position and rub again. You can use your hand, a lint free cloth or the transfer's backing paper to burnish the transfer after application to ensure it is firmly stuck in place. Seal with a good quality water based sealer like Frenchic Finishing Coat.
